Most frequently asked questions about residential burglar alarm systems that we install

We pride ourselves on no small print

  1. Free alarm system? What's the catch?
There is no catch. The monthly monitoring services will eventually pay off the initial cost of equipment and installation.
  2. What is the difference between a "hard wired alarm system" and a "wireless alarm system"?
A hardwire alarm system is installed where there is sufficient crawl space underneath the house or above in the attic. The contacts are hidden in the door frames and in the window sills. The actual wires are always out of sight. Wireless burglar alarm systems are for additional components beyond the original foundation. Wireless systems use transmitters to send signals to the control panel.
  3. What are the main components of the home security system?
A control panel w/ battery backup, keypad, door/window contacts, motion detectors and a siren.
  4. What other devices are common additions to add more home security to my home?
Glass break detectors, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, wireless key pads and remotes.
  5. Are wireless systems reliably free of false alarms and unaffected by radio transmissions?
Yes! The technology of today's microchips is quite sophisticated.
  6. Can the all on being hooked up directly to the police station?
No! The local police do not have the software or the manpower and budget to field alarm signals.
  7. How is the home security alarm system connected to the central monitoring station?
All alarms are monitored through the telephone lines. The central monitoring station can be located anywhere. Signals are received electronically with no time delay whether your home is one block away or 1000 miles away from the central station.
  8. What happens when the alarm goes off?
A trained dispatcher will call your home to verify if you set off the security alarm by mistake, asking you for your code word. If there's no answer after five rings or the password is incorrect the police are then notified through special lines (not 911). Your control panel is a computer that identifies where the break in occurred and the police are given accurate information as to location of the house and the location of break in. we then contact you at work, a friend or relative. All this data appears when a signal is received. Your alarm will automatically shut off within fifteen minutes and then re-arm itself.
  9. How loud is the siren, and will it bother my neighbors?
The siren is 95 dB pursuant to the alarm code ordinances Sirens are installed inside the home to scare the intruder away. It will not wake up the whole neighborhood. The siren is designed like intercom.
  10. Do I pay for false alarms?
No! We do not charge for false alarms, local police departments have a third violation rule--3 false alarms in one year and there's a fine. False alarms come from cheap equipment and poor installation. That's why you get the best and go with us instead with and get a free in-home warranty.
  11. What happens if there is the blackout and we lose electrical power in our home?
Our state-of-the-art system has a reserve battery housed in the control panel for the emergency. It can recharge and the system returns.
  12. Can this system be set at night or when the kids are home?
Yes! The Stay mode disarms the interior motion detectors for freedom of movement while keeping doors and windows armed.
  13. What about my pets (cats and dogs)?
Our alarms use the most sophisticated motion detectors available today. Our motion detectors can work with both dogs and cats with no problems.
  14. In emergency can I summon the police?
Yes! The keypad has a direct alarm for the police you don't even have to pick up the phone.
  15. What about service and warranty?
All defects in equipment installed by us only are covered for the first 90 days free. After this initial period service charges are applied for services provided at nominal fee, unless a service contract is purchased.
  16. Who will install my home security free alarm and how long does it take?
A licensed technician will visit your home. A basic system can be installed in three to five hours. Most systems are installed in about eight hours. Starting times are 8 a.m. for morning installations and between 12 and 2 p.m. for afternoon.
  17. Will my homeowners insurance give me an alarm discount?
Yes! Discounts are available from five percent to 20 percent with both smoke and alarm installations.
